Improved reconstruction methodology of clinical electron energy spectra based on Tikhonov regularization and generalized simulated annealing

Electron beam radiotherapy is the most widespread treatment modality todeal with superficial cancers. In electron radiotherapy, energy spectrum isimportant for modelling and accurate dose calculation. Since thepercentage depth-dose (PDD) a function of beam’s energy, reconstruction from curve represents an inverse problem.Thus, can be related to by means anappropriate mathematical model as Fredholm equation first kind.Since kind ill-posed, some regularizationmethod has used achieve useful solution. this work Tikhonovregularization was solved generalized simulated annealing optimization method. The accuracy verified thegamma index passing rate criterion applied PDD curves forthe reconstructed spectra compared experimental curves. Results showa good coincidence between curvesaccording gamma better than 95% 1% difference(DD)/1 mm distance agreement (DTA) criteria. Moreover, results showimprovement previous works not only in but also calculationtime. general, proposed method help dosimetryprocedures, planning quality control radiotherapy.
